any body make maple syrup?
My family and i have been making maple syrup for almost 20 years, and was wondering if anyone out there makes it as well. store bought stuff is usually made from corn syrup and “maple flavoring” and it tastes nothing like REALmaple syrup!
We live in upstate Ny, no where near the city. we have a large amount of maple trees on our property and tap around 30 of them a year. we have tin buckets attached to spigots that collects the sap, from there we store it until we have around 100-200 gallons of sap-which is like a very light sugar water and has a slight blue tinge to it. we boil it for days to produce around 2 gallons of syrup! super hard work but it’s worth the effort!
My sister does, I live in Canada – so I agree. the store bought type of syrup is yuck compared to the real thing. And another thing that is great about it – it is a natural product of north america……we should be supporting our farm producers – whether it is beef, produce, dairy or syrup…..
